Occupational Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities: Occupational Therapist Assistants and aides help handicaps that are mentally, emotionally, or physically disabled to regain abilities to perform daily living and self-care skills. They work under the supervision of occupational therapists as part of a team with physicians, counselors, and physical therapists.

Occupational therapy assistants work closely with patients to observe them, help them, and make reports to the occupational therapist on the patient’s progress and development. Most occupational therapy assistants are employed at hospitals, and many work at nursing homes. Some work for schools for the handicapped. Occupational therapy assistants may also work in rehabilitation centers or at adult daycare centers.

Average Salary : $12,000- $15,000- Occupational Therapy Aides

                  $17,000-$26,000- Occupational Therapy Assistants

Educational Requirements:
Occupational therapy aides must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.  They receive their training while on the job. 

Occupational therapy assistants must complete a two year training program that includes clinical experience.  They must also pass a national examination to earn certification as a qualified assistant.

I think this means that if you know what you want it will be easier to go towards it and achieve it. You can't have the future you want if you don't think about it everyday. You have to set your goals and do everything you can to acheive those goals. Only then will you have the future you want.

Nursing Home Administrators

Duties and Responsibilities: Nursing Home administrators are in charge of the actions made in nursing homes. They run the personnel, financial, medical, and nursing administration.

Most of them are employed in nursing homes, but several of them work in large corporations that control many nursing home facilities.

Salary: $40,000- $55,000

Education: Students should take:

• ·         High School courses in business, science, math, and English.
• ·         Some nursing home administrators should have a bachelor’s degree in nursing home administration.
• ·         Complete another internship program.
• ·         Pass a comprehensive examination. 
• I would not like to be a nursing home administrator because the career doesn't interest me.

This means that instead of being cool outside of school, try to be cool inside of school. If you are cool in school, nothing can really go wrong. But if you are cool outside of school, you can get into trouble and do bad things. You just have to go by the rules and you will be okay.

On Friday, the teachers and a few students put together an assembly for us. At first, they started to dance. It was amusing. Then they started to act out scenarios pretending they were students. After every act, they would play a video where students would act out too. Some of the topics covered cussing, wearing uniform, tagging, and keeping the school clean.  I don’t feel the need to improve anything as I wear my uniform, don’t tag, and do my part to keep the school clean.  But if I have to improve I would try to stop cussing and maybe clean up after other people.

This means in other words that you become what you think about. About moving towards them and doing everything you can to achieve your goals. Your actions will define what you become in the future. If you are positive and sure about you want and move towards it at an early age, you will achieve your goals when you are older. You have to think about what you are going to do before you do it because it just takes one bad action to ruin everthing. For example, this man who decided he wasn't going to shower and has lasted 60 years without showering, that was his goal and he moved towards it, but what did he really accomplish? You have to make everything your doing and all the effort and hard work your putting worth it in the end. 

Progress on my goals.
I haven't acheived many goals. I currently have 106 goals and have only accomplished 4 goals. One of them, for example, was cleaning out my locker. I think this notebook helped me because i was able to remind myself that this was a goal and when i got back to school after a weekend, that was the first thing i did. Other simple goals included finishing this assignment before it was due. Other goals i admit won't be happening any time soon because they were meant for my future. Also I know there will be some goals i will never accomplish during my lifetime. I hope i never forget about this notebook and I hope it can continue helping me through the rest of high school and adulthood like it had helped me until now. I feel that this notebook has helped me much because I feel that i can now release thought clouding in my mind and ever since i started this i feel so much better about myself.

Pyramid Healing

This mean that adversity can cause men to go either way. It is all up to the person. It just depends on how you take it. For some people, they choose to be successful and push themselves farther than what they intended. If they do something wrong, they do it again and again until they get it right. To other men, it's the complete opposite. These men will not try and not care to try any harder. These men wil give up after they figure out that they can't do something and are determined to never try it again. 

Health Information Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:  Health Information Specialists obtain, post, and analyze medical, workload, finance, and insurance data.  They ensure that this information is properly recorded into medical records so practitioners can plan and evaluate health care provided to patients. 

There are different types of Health Information Specialists you could be. Three of them include Record Administrators, Record Technicians, and Coding Specialists. Administrators coordinate the various information management responsibilities and supervise record technicians and coding specialists.  Record technicians ensure medical records are accurate, coordinate reimbursement, and maintain disease registries for research.  Coding specialists assign and post correct diagnosis and procedure codes to records and report codes to insurance companies. 

They can work in hospitals, clinics, and other medical related places.

Salary: $20,000- $25,000 for Coding Specialists

              $23,000- $30,000 for Record Technicians

              $30,000- $40,000 for Record Administrators

Education: Students should take high school courses in business, information management, science, math, and English. Coding specialists must have a high school diploma or GED certificate. To become certified, specialists must pass an examination. Record technicians must earn an associate's degree from an accredited college program. They must pass a credentialing examination. Record administrators must complete a bachelor's degree program in the field and pass a certification examination

Reflection: I would not like to be a Record Technician because the career does not interest me and it doesn’t seem like something I would like to be.

Health Sciences Librarian

Duties and Responsibilities: Health Sciences Librarians and Library Technicians collect and organize medical information and help others practitioners find the information they need for patient care, education, research, and administration. 

Librarians select and acquire books, journals, and other library material.  They also establish electronic and digital database information systems.  They organize this information into collections and develop catalogs for access and provide reference assistance to patrons.  They coordinate and control budgets and supervise library technicians. 

Library technicians assist librarians in organizing collections, shelve books, manage circulation desks, answer patrons' questions, and perform administrative duties.

Average Salary: $20,000- $30,000 (Library Technicians)

                         $35,000- $55,000 (Librarians)

Educational Requirements: Students should take challenging high school courses in information management, science, math, and English. 

Health sciences library technician training varies by employer.  Some provide on the job training, but all prefer that students complete library technician programs at a community college or technical school.  Associate's degrees can be earned in many of these programs. 

Health Science Librarians should earn an undergraduate degree in one of the life sciences and must earn a master's degree in library science from a program that is accredited by the American Library Association.  Some library science graduate programs offer specialized courses in health science librarianship

I would not like to be one because it doesn't interest me. 

The most important event for me was on December 28th on my 15. It started by me waking up around 5:00 to get my hair and makeup done. After that I got home and when i did it was hectic because everyone was running around. I sat down for a while. I waited for all my court to get there and then i went in to take oictures and change. Once i had put my dress on, i went outside to take even more pictures. then i got into my limo, went to church, took pictures, and then went to my party. Today, i wish i could go back and live at least a few minutes of that day again. Another thing i did was go to California Adventures

This means that good things don't come easily. You have to fight for them and they will usually be hard to get to. You have to keep trying until you succeed. This is trying to say that good things and greatness will come to the people that work hard and dont give up.Good things are hard to achieve and what matters is that you have to try hard and preservere to get to them. You can't give up because if you give up you will loose the chance to reach your dreams. 

Clinical Laboratory Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical Laboratory Specialists include both Clinical Laboratory Technicians and Clinical Technologists.  These professions are also referred to as Medical Laboratory Technicians or Medical Technologists.  
Both technicians and technologists perform laboratory work to identify, diagnose, and treat diseases. 

Clinical laboratory technicians use microscopes, laboratory equipment, chemicals and computers to perform laboratory procedures.  They also collect blood specimens and prepare culture media.  They conduct tests and prepare reports for clinical technologists or physicians. 

Clinical technologists perform more complex laboratory tests and procedures than technicians.  They also supervise technicians, confirm their tests, and manage laboratory quality control programs. 

Most of them work in hospitals, but can also work in private practices, medical groups, research laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, and universities.

Average Salary:

$20,000- $28,000 Clinical Laboratory Technicians)

$25,000- $40,000 Clinical Technologists

Educational Requirements:

Students should take the most challenging high school courses in, science, math, and English. 

An associate's degree in the field or completion of a specialized in-house training program is required to become a clinical laboratory technician. 

A bachelor's degree in the field is normally required to become a clinical technologist; however some employers accept an associate's degree and extensive clinical experience as a substitute.  Many technologists pursue additional graduate education or specialized training to advance their careers in clinical chemistry, blood banking, and microbiology.
