Duties and Responsibilities: They plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses. They use a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, drama, music, dance, sports, games, and field trips to maintain or improve a patient's well being.Recreational therapist help people relieve depression, stress, and anxiety. They create treatment plans and programs that meet patient's need and interest, help patients learn social skills needed to become or remain independent, tech patients about ways to cope with anxiety or depression, and record and analyze a patient's progress. They can work in hospitals, nursing care facilities, and residential care facilities.
Salary: $42,280 per year
Education: Recreation therapists must have a bachelor's degree in recreational therapy or a related field. Although you can also get an associate's, master's, or doctorate degrees. They also need courses in assessment, human anatomy, medical and psychiatric terminology.
Reflection: The career does not interest me.
